Dynamo’s Lucatero added to Mexico U18 squad

Houston Dynamo Academy midfielder Christian Lucatero named to Mexico U-18 national team camp in Mexico City

 

HOUSTON (Friday, February 13, 2015) – Houston Dynamo Academy midfielder Christian Lucatero was named to Mexico’s Under-18 men’s national team roster by head coach Juan Carlos Ortega. Lucatero will play with the Dynamo U-18s tomorrow against the Dynamo first team (kickoff: 11:00 a.m., HSP) before traveling to Mexico City to take part in Mexico’s 5-day training camp starting on Sunday.

Lucatero leads the Dynamo U-18 team with 9 goals in the 2014-2015 US Soccer Development Academy league.  The Dynamo are currently in first place in the Frontier Division with an 11-2-1 record.

“We are very proud of Christian, as his level of play this season has been outstanding,” said Dynamo Director of Youth Development James Clarkson.  “I’m very confident that he will do well in this upcoming training camp.”

In addition, Lucatero signed a letter of intent to attend Oregon State University on February 4.  The Pasadena, TX native joined the Dynamo Academy in 2010 and was part of a U.S. U-18 national team camp in April, 2014. After scoring 15 goals last season, Lucatero was named Dynamo Academy Player of the Year in 2013 and Players’ Player of the Year in 2014.
