Reigning champion LAFC looks like they are not sitting on its laurels.

LAFC made a major addition to it’s defense late Wednesday night, as it announced they had signed veteran Center Back Aaron Long for the next two seasons.

Long, a native of Oak Hills CA, located in nearby San Bernardino County, joins LAFC after spending the last seven seasons with the New York Red Bulls. 2018 was a breakout season for Long, as he made the MLS All-Star team and helped the Red Bulls win the Supporters Shield that season. In all, Long made 139 appearances for New York, scoring 12 goals and also made the All-Star team this past season.

Long starred at Serrano High School in nearby Phelan before continuing his career at UC Riverside. In his four seasons as a Highlander, from 2010 to 2013, Long made 71 appearances, scored 13 goals and was a twice was an All-Big West Conference selection. Long was then drafted in the second round of the 2014 MLS Superdraft by the Portland Timbers, though he spent most of his time on loan, first with Orange County Blues, then with Sacramento Republic. Long then joined the Seattle Sounders, though he also spent most of his time on loan to the Tacoma Defiance (back then Seattle Sounders II).
