LATEST: After the last result of the group, a 2-0 win by New York over Toronto, Oklahoma Energy made it through the group stage to the 3rd place match of the IMG Suncoast Pro Classic in Bradenton.

They will play Columbus Crew SC who lost a penalty shoot out 5-3 after a 1-1 draw with Philadelphia Union. Union will take on the Red Bulls.

Oklahoma Energy have been preparing for their upcoming season with some tough opposition

Their opponents thus far have been Toronto FC, New York Red Bulls and Danish side HB Koge. They had already beaten Toronto FC 1-0 courtesy of a 50th minute goal from Kyle Greig before they fell by the same margin to the Red Bulls for whom Manolo Sanchez netted inside ten.

Speaking before today’s 0-0 draw with the the Danish side HB Koge, their Danish head coach Jimmy Nielsen spoke exclusively to Prost Amerika.

He talked about what he had learned in his first season at Oklahoma and confessed to making an early misjudgment. (see video above).

Earlier in the group, Toronto had beaten Koge 1-0 and New York Red Bulls had tied the Danes 1-1.

In the final match, the Red Bulls beat TFC 2-0 giving them 7 points and the group first place. Oklahoma finished a creditable second with four points.
