Inter Miami will kick off its inaugural Major League Soccer campaign with a trip to Los Angeles.

MLS today confirmed Inter will open their season against reigning Supporters’ Shield winners LAFC away from home.

Miami will kick off its first ever season at the Banc of California stadium on Sunday, March 1st (5.30pm ET).

Inter will then stay on the road for week two, with their opponent yet to be confirmed, before returning to South Florida for their first ever home fixture in front of their own fans at the currently named Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale one week later.

LA Galaxy will be the first team to enjoy a trip to Fort Lauderdale when the two teams do battle on Saturday, March 14 (2.30pm ET).

Part owner Jorge Mas confirmed on Tuesday that the Fort Lauderdale stadium is set to be ‘on time’.

The new venue is intended to be a temporary home for Inter while they attempt to push through plans for Miami Freedom Park, a 25,000-seater, soccer-specific stadium

Speaking on Tuesday, Mas confirmed the Fort Lauderdale sight is coming on well ahead of the home opener on March 14.

“Eight months ago people told me you would never get this finished,” said Mas. “They told me there was no chance. But here we are, this stadium will be completed for our home debut on March 14th.”
