Gaven, Schelotto, Hejduk for 3/29: Columbus Crew most newsworthy or under the radar social media topics of interest for 3/29.

Gaven..
The Kei Kamara fun never ends

Well, that was a bit overblown.

More of a journalist putting a snippet on Twitter trying to get as many Twitter clicks as possible.

Well done.

What Kamara really said..

“You don’t want to see anyone lose their team that they’ve supported for a long time. They do have some diehard fans that have been with the team since ’96, and I feel bad for them.”

When asked if the Crew should stay in Columbus, a little of Kamara’s humour returned. “If I was the commissioner,” he smiled, exiting stage left through the media scrum Tuesday, “I’d probably move them to Vegas.”

Maybe because we’re the most fun.

Hey, look at us being glass half-full.

He can say whatever as long as he doesn’t capitalize on opportunities like the following against us this Saturday.

Schelotto..
Back in the Portuguese neck of the woods?

An unnamed MLS team are after a 25 year old Portuguese striker from  Tondela named Tomane. Link.

Last summer, the Columbus Crew were sniffing around CD Tondela for Venezuelan winger Jhon Murillo. Link.

Apparently Columbus like to go back and fish in the same markets.

Probably because whatever scouts Columbus do have they have connections at certain clubs that they trust.

Before this they went back to where they acquired Milton Valenzuela (Newells Old Boys) and were apparently asking questions about right midfielder Joaquin Torres.

That has died down. That may be due in part to Cristian Martinez’s work on the previous weekend. Assuming he can replicate that effort he may be  able to carry the load at right midfield.

So if Berhalter may is looking  what are some areas that he can improve upon?

The Crew could still use a better second striker after Gyasi Zardes.

Also, they should still have a good portion to spend from the Ola Kamara and Justin Meram trades.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if more moves happen on the horizon.

Hejduk..
Cruyff Lalas

Here are some relatively surprising statistics.

Lalas Abubukar has the best passing accuracy rate on the entire Columbus Crew, even better than Wil Trapp.

In addition, he’s second best in the league at center-back after former Crew defender Michael Parkhurst.

With Berhalter’s love for passing out of the back he is certainly finding a way to keep his name in the starting eleven.
