Colorado Rapids 2- Vancouver Whitecaps 3

The Conor Casey era started  with a thud on Friday night as the Vancouver Whitecaps held off the Colorado Rapids 3-2 to earn the road win at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Fredy Montero (16′) and Lucas Venuto (26′) pushed the Whitecaps out to an early 2-0 lead in the first half. Although the Rapids tied things up thanks to a pair of penalty kick goals in the 38th and 53rd minutes. But the Whitecaps pulled ahead late with honorary Cascadian Andy Rose scoring the go-ahead goal in the 87th minute.
