Colorado Rapids 2-San Jose Earthquakes 1

The Rapids revolution lives on! Three matches into their brand new roster and more importantly the Kellyn Acosta era the Colorado Rapids positive run is showing no signs of stopping. On Saturday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park the Rapids (6-12-5, 23 points) defeated the San Jose Earthquakes (3-13-7, 16 points) to earn just their sixth win of the season, but their second in as many games.

Colorado took the lead early when Tommy Smith scored his third goal of the season in the 24th minute. The Quakes leveled the score in the 56th when Magnus Eriksson scored to make it 1-1. But the Rapids attack continued to disrupt the Quakes defense for the final half hour, finding the match-winner in the fourth minute of extratime when Nana Blessing finished off a pass from Acosta.

On hand to cover the match was Prost Amerika photographer Corbin Elliott. You can check out some of his shots from the match below and his full gallery from the Rapids season on SmugMug.
