Canada 4-French Guiana 1

Perhaps the tide is turning for the Canadian Men’s National Team. On Sunday night at BC Place in Vancouver Les Rouges were faced with a situation that they are all too familiar with: a close match against a beatable opponent with plenty on the line at home. But things were different this time around with Canada rising to the challenge and defeating French Guiana 4-1 to wrap up CONCACAF Nations League Qualifying.

While Junior Hoilett gave Canada the lead with an early goal in the 12th minute Kevin Rimane responded with an equalizer just 14 minutes later. Although there were some nervy minutes after that strike they pulled themselves together to get all three points. A brace from Lucas Cavallini (26′ and 50′) and a goal just before halftime from Jonathan David (41′) proved to be the difference from the young side who were without Alphonso Davies due to injury.

On hand to cover the match was Prost photographer Gerrit te Hennepe. You can check out his full gallery below and his work with the Vancouver Whitecaps on SmugMug.
