The Cascadian side has added a second player to its squad. Canadian 21 year-old Josh Doughty is an attacking midfielder capable of playing down the middle or out wide.

In 2017, Manchester United bought his MLS contract to release him from the RSL academy but he was unable to break into the United Under 21 squad on a regular basis. He started three Under 19 matches and one Under 21 fixture for United. At the age of 20, he left United of his own volition feeling he still had something to contribute to soccer in North America.

At United, he lined up in the same youth team as current first-team squad members Marcus Rashford and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, as well as promising local Manchester youngsters RoShaun Williams and Callum Gribbin.

Born in Vancouver, Doughty has played for the Canadian U-20s. His was a deliberate choice to represent Canada as he also hold, UK and US passports and could have played for five other countries as a result.

Head coach James Nichols was effusive about his latest recruit.

“I’m delighted to have Josh involved with the set up. He has a fantastic pedigree, having played for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Now it’s an opportunity for him to showcase himself and get back to enjoying his soccer again.”

Last week, Charlie Gregory became the first player to be formally announced but Prost Amerika understands that at least 18 others are also on board with more announcements to follow in the coming days.
