Fire Make Changes, but Experience Same Result

DC United 1-0 Chicago Fire FC

WASHINGTON, DC—Fire head coach Raphael Wicky made four changes to the starting lineup, including 17-year old homegrown player Brian Gutierrez for the first time. It was an improved performance by the Fire, but it ended up being the same result—a loss. It is now four straight losses and 11 straight winless dating back to last season as DC United made a 7th minute strike hold for their first win of the year.

Former Ontario Fury and LAFC player Adrien Perez was able to make run to the end line and feed Edison Flores for his first goal in DC colors in his 18th appearance.

Gutierrez did impress in his first start and even shooting one off the post in the 37th minute after another chance was stopped by Jon Kempic five minutes earlier. He would be subbed at the hour mark for Elliot Collier.

The Fire would have 15 shots on the night, but just three on target. The last shot being Fabian Herbers in his first match heading off the bar in stoppage time.

The Fire will now return home on May 22nd to play Inter Miami at 5pm on UniMas. The Fire changed things up on Thursday night, but the result stayed the same. Right now, it is not working for the Fire.
