FRISCO, TX–FC Dallas are now unbeaten in three after losing their opening match with a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City. Daniel Salloi opened the scoring in the 11th minute for Sporting’s first goal of the 2023 season. Alan Velasco equalized for the Red Hoops in minute 55 after getting on the end of a back heel from Sebastian Llegett.

At the hour mark, Sporting KC got a penalty after Maarten Paes clipped William Agada in the area. Agada took the spot kick, but Paes saved it. However, VAR determined Paes was off his line prior to the kick and the penalty would be retaken. Erik Thommy stepped up this time, but Paes would save again to keep it at 1-1.

Jesus Ferreira would give Dallas all three points as he would pounce on his own rebound in the 84th minute. Paes would survive another moment in the 87th minute as he was initially given a second yellow for another foul in the box, but VAR determined that Sporting KC had players offside negating the penalty.
