The New England Revolution would come away with all three points Saturday evening after a DC United own goal in the 48th minute. This improves the Revolutions record to 1-1-0 with 4 points.

Gillette Stadium and the New England Revolution would open it’s doors for the first time since the 2020 playoffs, and for the first time with spectators since the beginning of the 2020 season. The Revolution, with a chip in their shoulders, would look to prove themselves after a promising playoff run and a positive offseason.

The match would be a very evenly matched contest with both teams looking technically sound early on. A solid performance by both sides would see the two teams go into the halftime break even at 0.

It didn’t take the Revs long to find some magic after the halftime break. In the 48th minute the Revs started to push forward. With numbers in the box, Revolution defender Brandon Bye whipped a cross into the DC Untied penalty area. While no Revs players were able to pounce on the ball, the ball would deflect off of United defender, Brendan Hines-Ike and into the back of the net.

In a hard fought battle the Revolution were able to pick up their first win of the 2021 campaign. A final score of 1-0 sees Matt Turner and the Revolution back line with their first clean sheet of the season.

Up next for the Revolution is a matchup with Atlanta United this Saturday.
