CD Guadalajara 2-Toronto FC 1

The top side in Major League Soccer that has already defeated two Liga MX sides versus a Liga MX side that is at the bottom of the standings. Sounds like an easy victory for MLS, right? Those who have forgotten MLS’ sordid past in CONCACAF Champions League play were given a harsh wake-up call on Tuesday night at BMO Field as Toronto FC were beaten at home by Chivas de Guadalajara 2-1 in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Finals.

Chivas pulled ahead very early with a goal from Rodolfo Pizarro in the second minute. Jonathon Osorio tied things up with his goal for Toronto in the 19th minute. But Chivas would take the lead once again in the 72nd minute via a strike from Alan Pulido.

With the win Chivas takes a 2-1 lead into the second leg against Toronto (4/25 9:30pm EST, Univision Deportes). Chivas also has a two goal advantage in terms of road goals which means that TFC will have to go on the attack in an unforgiving environment at Estadio Akron in Guadalajara.
