Piscataway, N.J- While on the road, the Chicago Red Stars clinched their eighth clean sheet of the season with a 3-0 win over Sky Blue FC during Week 22 of the National Women’s Soccer League. Within the first half, the Red Stars scored two goals within minutes of each other to take the lead.

Sky Blue saw an early run down the field from Carli Lloyd as she came up on a one vs one opportunity against Chicago goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher.

Naeher was on her toes and she came out to slide clear the shot from her fellow teammate of the U.S. Women’s National Team.

The Red Stars continued to capitalize on their early momentum and found their first goal in the 31’ minute as a long pass was sent to league goal scorer Sam Ker.

With the ball almost out of bounds, Kerr quickly passed to the center of the field where Morgan Brian scored her first NWSL goal.

Kerr was able to find a solid connection from Yuki Nagasato up the field and as Sky Blue goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan came out for the save, Kerr sent the ball to the net between Sheridan’s legs. This goal from Kerr extended the lead and marked her 16th goal of the season.

With the second half underway, the Red Stars were able to find another opportunity just before the final whistle was blown. A pass was set up by Zoey Goralski as she found Nagasato in the middle. The shot from Nagasato then put Chicago ahead with another goal as they had 10 minutes left to spare.

Sky Blue will face Reign FC on Saturday, Sep. 21 with kickoff set at 7:00pm PST as they head to the East Coast for Week 23.
