Bundesliga Match Day 6 Preview: Oktoberfest Underway

0

The Great German beer festival is underway in Munich. So is the Bundesliga as we preview match day six. And the Oktoberfest beer you don’t know about which you should.

When Bundesliga clubs participate in midweek slate of league matches it is called and English Week or Englische Woche. While only a few matches in there are real story lines developing and lets highlight a few of those.

Borussia Dortmund under Peter Bosh has looked steller. The late addition of Andriy Yarmolenko has been of note. Conceding zero goals and scoring 13 is more than anyone else has done in either category of scoring so far. From an American perspective Christian Pulisic has been given a greater role. Add in the fact that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back to scoring and with lethal force means the Bundesliga has more than one club to fear.

And FC Koln. Their fans traveled in mass to London and if Arsenal had allowed it there would have been close to 20,000 fans cheering on their team. That’s the support of a team who is a representative of one of Germany’s biggest cities. But they sold Anthony Modeste, the goals have dried up. Defensive players have left and they have not been replaced. Yes the football God of Modeste is gone but it is more than that. This defensive force looks weak and with no depth this yo-yo club might have earned themselves a relegation fight after zero points from five.

OKTOBERFEST

Unlike St Patrick’s day, this is a 14 day drinking festival. Who doesn’t like to drink a beer wearing short shorts, all joking aside.

Lets take a look at this American beer that is a strong specimen of a drink that many will enjoy over the fall season.

From Santa Fe Brewing comes their own Oktoberfest seasonal. Coming in can form this malty beer makes a person think of everything from watching the leaves change, watch their children play in a pumpkin patch, to showing off how fast you can drink a mass krug of beer(1 liter glass mug).

Match of the Week

Hard to get much better. BVB is flying so high in the Bundesliga season as they lead the pack. A team that is chasing is Borussia Monchengladbach. In this battle of the Borussia’s two players two watch are the new signings of each club. Yarmolenko has show why at 27 he has been forgotten as a force but his pace, able to play as a striker or winger makes him tricky to mark. The Foals are good when Denis Zakaria is playing well, in their only loss of the season he had a poor day out.
