For Portland Timbers midfielder David Ayala, the news of his season ending injury came became a blow after coming back from another injury. The young Argentinian on Saturday’s game against St Louis he saw his season come to an abrupt end.
Ayala, 20, suffered a torn cruciate ligament (ACL) and will undergo a reconstructive surgery on Monday, May 8 to be performed by Dr. Richard Edelson in Portland. His return will be around nine months and his rehabilitation will be with the Timbers sports medicine Staff at Providence Park and at the Providence Sports Care Center.
So far, in the season Ayala, has become very important in the Timbers defensive midfield including in its attack and by creating a number of opportunities and being chosen over Cristhian Paredes to start in three of four matches. The Argentine has played in 25 matches (11 starts) since joining the Timbers on February 1,2022.
