TUKWILA, WA–Tacoma Defiance rallied from two goals down to send the match into extra time and ultimate won 5-4 in a penalty shootout over Houston Dynamo 2 to advance into the Western Conference Final in MLS NEXT Pro action where they will face St. Louis City SC 2. Beto Avila and Jacob Evans put Dynamo Dos 2-0 up just five minutes into the second half before Marlon Vargas pulled one back from the spot and a 94th minute own goal leveled matters.

Thirty minutes of extra time proved nothing and it went on to penalties. Houston’s Paulo Lima, who was debited with the own goal, would miss the only penalty in the shootout while Tacoma made all five to advance.
