SEATTLE, WA–The Sounders maintained their spot at the top of the Western Conference with a 1-0 win over Minnesota United at Lumen Field on Saturday afternoon. Joao Paulo scored the only goal of the match in the 22nd minute and the defense made it stick.

Stefan Frei returned to the starting XI for the first time since May after recovering from a knee injury. He made four saves on the day en route to his third clean sheet of the season.

The Sounders remain two points clear of Sporting Kansas City for first place in the Western Conference with Colorado a third point behind in third.

The Sounders host Liga MX side Santos Laguna in the semifinals of the 2021 Leagues Cup on Tuesday night at 6:30pm PT on ESPN2.
