CHICAGO, IL–Chicago Fire FC made it official and transferred midfielder Przemyslaw Frankowski to Ligue 1 side RC Lens. Per club and league policy, terms were not disclosed, but reports have placed the transfer at around $3 million.

“I would like to thank the Club and the fans for the amazing times that I had in a great Club and city,” said Frankowski. “Chicago will always be my second home. I made so many great memories in Chicago, including the birth of my son. All that’s left for me to do is to thank you all again and I wish the Club all the best for the future.”

Frankowski made 63 regular season appearances (52 starts) in two-and-a-half seasons with the club joining from Polish side Jagiellonia Białystok. During that stretch, the Polish international scored 10 goals and notched a team-high 13 assists. Additionally, he earned 11 caps for the Poland National Team, including two appearances at the UEFA EURO 2020 most notably assisting on a goal for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski.

“Przemysław has been an important player for the Fire, and I’ve really enjoyed working with him,” added Head Coach Raphael Wicky. “He has shown tremendous growth during his time here and we are incredibly proud to see him take the next step in his professional career. We wish him the best of luck for the future.”
