Thorns Acquire USWNT Star Crystal Dunn

The Portland Thorns announced today the club has acquired USWNT star and former NWSL MVP Crystal Dunn. The Thorns will send allocation money, a 2021 international roster spot, and first round pick in the 2022 NWSL College Draft to OL Reign in exchange for Dunn.

The 28-year-old arrives in Portland with numerous accolades, including 2015 NWSL MVP, 2015 Golden Boot winner, and NWSL Best XI selections in 2015 and 2018.

Dunn began her NWSL career in 2014 with the Washington Spirit. She has appeared in 89 games and tallied 32 goals and 20 assists. Most recently, Dunn has been a member of the North Carolina Courage where she won back-to-back NWSL Shields and NWSL Championships in 2018 and 2019.

As a member of the US Women’s National Team, Dunn has been consistently impactful with 24 goals and 17 assists in 104 appearances.

Dunn joins an evolving Thorns squad that continues to balance experience and up and coming talent for 2021 and beyond. More moves around the league are expected as the NWSL’s newest club, Racing Louisville Football Club, prepares for the expansion draft on Thursday, November 12th.
