Dash and Pride draw in Houston

The Houston Dash were not able to hold the lead and ended the match in a tie against Orlando Pride 2-2. Kristie Mewis scored the partial 2-1 for Houston at the 67’, but Danica Evans got the final goal of the match at the 71’ to give a much-needed point for the Purple team.

This match was marked by all the players, both teams, were missing due to the Women’s World Cup.

The first goal of the match was scored by Orlando’s Joanna Boyles at the 20’. The superiority of the Orlando team was cleared during the first half where they had a solid defensive game and created some opportunities to open the score.

The second half started with the Dash pressuring the Pride. That paid off for the home team as Sofia Huerta scored the partial 1-1 only two minutes into the second half. After that, the controlled Houston had of the ball at midfield and managed the timings of the match.

This is why the home team score went up in the score, but a defensive mistake let Pride tie everything and take a point back to Florida.
Now Houston is fifth in the standings with 12 points whereas Orlando remains in the last place with only two points after nine matches played.
