Armenteros is possessed in scoring goals and with a double on Saturday night in Providence Park. That was enough for his team the Portland Timbers playing as locals to win their match. The win for Portland extends their winning streak to eleven matches in league play to thirteen overall.

The Timbers and by extension Armenteros are  playing a different game of football with a new winning attitude and the  drive to excel. So far, for manager Gio Savarese displaying his ventures in the field and with a bold approach in every match we are seeing in him. This time the man with many moves, he has implemented to his squad. All of a sudden are working wonders for him and his Portland Timbers.

As results speak of the achievements, he has instituted so far in the course of the campaign. After seeing his side first five matches struggles. All of a sudden, we have a contender and a united initial eleven displaying new faces in every match. The sense of competition is paying off for the Timbers first year manager.

Lately Gio has started using a more dynamic approach toward his offensive game: a 4-4-2 formation. Amazingly working wonders for his veterans and newcomers adapting quickly to their manager improvisations. Last night in Providence Park, we saw the duo of Samuel Armenteros and Dairon Aspirilla working wonders. Especially for Armenteros who delivered the win for his squad with a double.

So far, for the Portland Timbers not only Diego Valeri assisting like a mad man and Samuel Armenteros scoring frenzy in his last matches.  Not only are these two contributing to the team but also to the whole squad, whoever gets the starting job, they are producing.

I give a lot of credit to Giovanni Savarese in awakening in several of his player’s careers. With Jeff Attinella having a monster of a campaign under the goalposts, the defensive game stepping up and the new dynamic offensive game, are the solid proof.

Among one of them is Armenteros as mentioned by manager Savarese productivity in Italy. Lacking activity and now in Portland the man is back to his old self and scoring when the opportunity arises.

Still there is quite a ways for the Portland Timbers (8-3-5, 29 points) in this campaign. After this win, these seeded in fifth place and tied in points with Real Salt Lake but these in fourth place. As this campaign, we are to brace a much-contested one.

So far, the Portland squad has eleven games in perfection and for its manager is one match at a time.

As their next week, challenge away in Banc of California Stadium to play the LAFC for the first time in Tinsel Town against the first year LA squad. The challenges coming to this match are multiple with this star studded initial eleven. Call it defensively or offensively the Rose City squad will have its hands full against the Angelinos.

Unity and hard work are paying off for the Timbers overall. These traits will be important at the end of the campaign when the race for the postseason intensifies in the Western Conference. There will also likely beseveral squads in its conference staging a revival.

For the Portland Timbers every game is an all-around challenge and taking their rivals very seriously. That has been the essence of their success in the campaign so far. As last night despite having a field day against San Jose they had their precautions in the whole match.
