Columbus Crew 2 (9)- Chicago Fire 2 (10)

It appears that the Chicago Fire may have settled head coach Veljko Paunovic’s stomach. A week after saying he was ‘sick‘ over his club’s performance his players came out and did what no side has done to the Columbus Crew this season at MAPFRE Stadium: beat them. Thanks to a critical stop from goalkeeper Richard Sanchez the Fire defeated the Crew 10-9 in penalties to advance in the 2018 U.S. Open Cup.

Chicago’s goals during regulation and extra time were scored by Nemanja Nikolic (45′ and 109′) while Columbus’ goals came from Cristian Martinez (10′) and Adam Jahn (114′).

On hand to cover the match was Prost photographer Julie Jackson. Make sure to give her a follow on Twitter and check out all of her work from the 2018 season on SmugMug.
