Tampa Bay Rowdies 3- FC Cincinnati 0

Score early. There are very few  general keys to performing well in playoff matches in soccer but the overall consensus always seems to to be that the team that scores first gets to dictate the pace. Thanks to a pair of early goals the Tampa Bay Rowdies dispatched FC Cincinnati on Saturday night at Al Lang Stadium with a 3-0 win.

Marcel Schafer (8′ and 25′) scored twice in the first half hour of the match to give Tampa the early 2-0 advantage. Although Cincinnati pressed early in the second half to narrow their lead, the Rowdies put the game out of reach with Georgi Hristov’s goal in the 67th minute. With the win Tampa moves on to play New York Red Bulls II on Saturday night at Al Lang Stadium (7pm EST, ESPN3).

On hand to cover the match was Prost Amerika photographer Nelson Lucindo. You can check out some of his photos from the match below and his full Tampa Bay Rowdies gallery on SmugMug.
