Vancouver BC- In a battle of two Cascadia rivals on Sunday afternoon it was the Portland Timbers 2 that came out on top. Buoyed by two first-half goals by Neco Brett (12′) and Villyan Bijev (42′) T2 handed Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 their second consecutive loss at Thunderbird Stadium.
The loss drops Whitecaps FC 2 (11-9-9, 42 points) into sixth place. Meanwhile, three points for T2 (11-14-4, 37 points) keeps their playoff hopes alive ahead of a huge match at home against Arizona United SC on Saturday. T2 are one point shy of San Antonio FC (10-11-8, 38 points) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the USL Western Conference.
