The Houston Dynamo were back in action for the first time since their last Major League Soccer match on June 2nd, a 1-1 tie at FC Dallas. With a 4-0 win over San Antonio FC on Wednesday, the Dynamo remain unbeaten against Texas foes this season.

It was Wade Barrett’s first match, at least officially, as the interim head coach and the first home match since former manager Owen Coyle’s departure. Barrett had previously guided the Dynamo to two draws before the MLS break for Copa America Centenario and the win improves his record as head coach to 1-0-2.

“We wanted to make sure that we came out with the right attitude, and the right approach,” said Barrett during his postgame press conference. “We definitely could have done a couple things a little bit better. For the most part, the guys came out and they got the job done.”

Mauro Manotas broke the deadlock in the 39th minute to score his first goal in an official competition with the Dynamo this season. Alex would slot the second goal right before the break for halftime.

Defender Raul Rodriguez entered the game at the start of the second half, coming in for David Horst, and headed in off a free kick the third goal for the Dynamo in the 60th minute of play. Six minutes later, Leonel Miranda scored the fourth and last goal of the night.

The win against San Antonio FC, a United Soccer League club that was founded this past January, was the first meeting between the two clubs and matched the Dynamo’s largest margin of victory in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament.

The Houston Dynamo will face rival Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday, June 29 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, with the winner hosting either the Colorado Rapids or FC Dallas in the quarterfinals. Sporting KC eliminated the Dynamo in the quarterfinals last year, that game played in Kansas City, before winning their third U.S. Open Cup.

The Dynamo return to MLS play on Saturday when they host D.C. United at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Update 6/10/16: Thursday’s draw was conducted at Copa America Centenario Headquarters in Chicago to decide the round of 16 matches. This article has been updated to reflect that announcement.
