D.C. United showed that force was with them, last Friday, in the first out of three encounters against New York Red Bulls.

On a night where Star Wars fans were able to see not only a great lightsaber fight during half-time and take pictures with R2D2 but to watch one of the best performances of the Red-and-Black team this spring.

Alvaro Saborio and Patrik Nyarko scored two terrific goals right in the first half of the game, showing everybody that United can play better than they did the previous matches, as said, Coach Ben Olsen.

“I’m pleased, but the message is that this is what we can do. But, we can’t wait until it’s New York in a packed house and a week after a loss. That needs to be the standard.”

Twenty minutes into the game, Nyarko found Marcelo Sarvas on the right side of the box, who sent the ball to Saborio for a beautiful goal.
Twenty-three minutes later Saborio sent the ball to Lamar Neagle and him with a cross found Nyarko for a volley that sent the ball to the back of the Red Bulls net.

It is impossible to talk about last Friday’s victory without speaking of the saves Travis Worra did. The 23-year-old goalkeeper demonstrated that he was on top of his game and did not disappoint the fans. The double save from the Gonzalo and Felipe shots at the 31st minute being a great example.

D.C United will have another opportunity to show the same enthusiasm and to use the Force one more time next Friday, May 20 against the Philadephia Union in Philadelphia.
