Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 Seattle Sounders FC

VANCOUVER, BC–Vancouver Whitecaps picked up another Cascadia Cup win, this time defeating Seattle Sounders FC, 2-0, at BC Place. The win lifts the Whitecaps to seventh in the Western Conference while the Sounders remain second, but having played two extra matches than West leaders LAFC and third place St. Louis CITY SC (both winners on Saturday).

The Whitecaps took the lead in the 44th minute as Ali Ahmed found Pedro Vite in the box. Vite fought off Alex Roland and then Stefan Frei for the opening score. The hosts got their second in the 58th minute as Ryan Gauld’s shot squeezed between Frei and the post and into the back of the net.

The Sounders were unable to get much going offensively as they had just one shot on goal compared to five for the Whitecaps.

Next up for the Whitecaps is a Canadian Championship Semifinal against CPL side Pacific FC at Starlight Stadium in Langley, BC. Kickoff is Wednesday at 7pm PT on One Soccer.
