Trevor Zwetsloot signs with Pittsburgh Riverhounds following 2022 campaign with New England Revolution II

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New Zealand midfielder Trevor Zwetsloot has signed a professional contract with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL Championship.

The former Revolution II Dutch/New Zealand midfielder played the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season with the New England Revolution II where he made 21 total appearances, tallying 1,351 minutes for the club. He had zero goals and zero assists. 

Zwetsloot was 1 of 5 Revolution II players who had their 2023 MLS NEXT Pro contract options declined following the 2022 campaign in December of that year.

 

Zwetsloot will join another former New England Revolution player in Pittsburgh as forward Edward Kizza signed with the club following an unsuccessful stint with the Revolution in 2021. He was loaned out to Pittsburgh in 2022 and signed on following the conclusion of his MLS contract.

Pittsburgh in 2022 finished 16W-9D-9L (5th place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference) in 2022. The club was knocked out in the USL Eastern Conference Semi-finals following a 2-2 draw (5-3 loss in penalties) to Louisville City FC. The club is set to play in the 2023 U.S. Lamar Hunt Open Cup.

The New England Revolution II will kick off their 2023 MLS NEXT Pro campaign on the road as the squad travels to face Atlanta United II on March 26th at 7:30 p.m. All MLS, MLS NEXT Pro matches will be available through the new MLS Streaming Service on the Apple TV app.
