Five Stripes Drawn by Toronto

ATLANTA, GA–Atlanta United played Toronto FC to a 1-1 draw at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday night. Federico Bernardeschi picked up a ball from Michael Bradley and made a run down the right flank being given ample space and blasted the ball past Brad Guzan in the 52nd minute. The lead would last just eight minutes, though, as Matheus Rossetto’s shot deflected off two Toronto defenders and past Sean Johnson to make it 1-1.

Giorgios Giakoumakis thought he had scored in the 76th minute to give Atlanta the lead, but the goal was chalked off as Juan Purata was offside in the buildup. Sean Johnson would be called on to make two saves in the final ten minutes to preserve the point for TFC.
