The Portland Timbers put on an interesting list for the upcoming 2022 Expansion Draft

With Saint Louis City SC becoming the 29th team to make its debut in Major League Soccer in 2023, the Portland Timbers put on its unprotected list a few interesting names including midfielder Sebastian Blanco.

As one of the names being Sebastian Blanco, maybe St. Louis can put its eyes on the veteran midfielder and incorporate him into their team ranks, but he will fall in the Designated Player category. This is something STL SC is not looking forward to incorporate players that fall into the DP ranks.

Other players considered important to develop and for the club to keep include Zac McGraw. This player made and impact and broke through, and with a little help maybe Diego Gutierrez and Justin Rasmussen can follow.

It is also surprising to see the names of Felipe Mora and Nathan Fogaça on the unprotected likes. As for the likes of Marvin Loria, Larrys Mabiala, and Pablo Bonilla; I believe their time has come up with the club and will need to move on to other clubs. Who knows? Maybe they can make the impact they lacked in their time here in Rose City.

What the club is looking forward to do in the upcoming 2023 season includes entering negotiations with one of Denmark’s most important clubs to get the services of Brazilian winger Evander.

The unprotected list also includes two goalkeepers in David Bingham and Justin Vom Stegg, followed by defenders Larrys Mabiala, Zac McGraw, Justin Rasmussen, Pablo Bonilla and Josecarlos Van Rankin.

With midfielders Sebastian Blanco, Marvin Loria, and defensive midfielder George Fochive. The list ends with Felipe Mora currently on the club disabled list and future prospect Diego Gutierrez.
