Houston Dash dominated a tough visit to the Portland stronghold of Thorns FC. Houston’s order and effectiveness in front of the goal defended by Bella Bixby, got them three valuable points in one of the league’s toughest away fixtures. The Thorns started with a squad with a few rotations since their last match on Wednesday when they drew 1-1 with Washington Spirit, while Houston drew 1-1 in Louisville. Portland couldn’t find the formula to break through Houston’s defense.

Rachel Daly opened the scoring for Houston Dash right before halftime assisted by Nichelle Prince. The second goal came in minute 66, from Sophie Schmidt, assisted by Haley Hanson. Next, Houston Dash will travel back home where they will face North Carolina Courage on May 29th, while the Portland Thorns will travel to Chicago to play one day earlier, against the Red Stars on Saturday May 28th.
