COMMERCE CITY, CO–Two penalties were enough to see Colorado Rapids stun LAFC at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Gyasi Zardes scored from the spot in the 17th minute after Sebastien Ibeagha kicked Diego Rubio on an attempted clearance. Eleven minutes later, Rubio himself converted from the spot Francisco Ginella fouled Jonathan Lewis in the area.

The Rapids are now 22 games unbeaten at home. It’s significant in that the Rapids were 48 hours removed from losing in the US Open Cup to Minnesota United in a match pushed to Thursday after severe weather.
