VANCOUVER, BC–Vancouver Whitecaps sealed their first playoff appearance for the first time since 2017 with a 1-1 draw against arch-rival Seattle Sounders FC. The draw was enough regardless of what happened elsewhere on Decision Day on Sunday. Fredy Montero scored from the penalty spot in the eighth minute before Ryan Gauld equalized for the Whitecaps.

The Sounders missed out on a chance to finish top of the Western Conference and earn a first-round bye as Colorado defeated LAFC, 5-2. The second-seeded Sounders will now host the #7-seed Real Salt Lake in the first round. The Whitecaps earn the #6-seed and will travel to #3-Sporting Kansas City.
