After a weather delayed in Houston, the Dash beat the Reign 2-0 with a solid game in all their lines.
Determination was the key point for the Texas side who wanted to get another win in front of its home crowd. But not everything was easy for Houston. The Dash was missing two key players in offense as Rachel Daly and Kristie Mewis, due to being with their national teams preparing for the Olympics, did not take part of the match. Also, getting a win on this match, was important because it was the last match for the three Canadian players who are going to the Olympics (Sophie Schmidt, Nichelle Prince, and Allysha Chapman), and Jane Campbell, who is on the reserved list for the USWNT.

The Reign came to this match with some locker room issues as well. The coach Farid Berstiti resigned just hours before the match in Texas. He served as their coach for less than two seasons. In his place, Sam Laity took the interim coach role for this match.
The first half of the match could have seen both sides get the lead. The Orange and the visitor side created many chances to open up the score. However, it was until the 50th minute that Jasmyne Spencer score the leading goal for the home side. Only seven minutes later and after pressuring to double the lead, Katie Naughton scored the final 2-0 for the Dash who sits now on the fourth place of the standongs with 13-points after eight matches. On the other side, the OL Reign its on 9th place with only seven points.
Next, the Houston Dash will travel to the Windy City of Chicago to face the Red Stars on July 11th. The OL Reign will receive Kansas City in a match that can determined what team will continue in the bottom of the standings.
