Portland Timbers Win in their Home Opener 2-1 over Houston Dynamo

Portland Timbers didn’t disappoint in their home opener with a hard fought win over the Houston Dynamo. Portland opened the score sheet with a goal by Dairon Asprilla, assisted by Pablo Bonilla early in the 6th minute. Houston would tie the game with a own goal by Portland midfielder Christian Paredes. Paredes, would make amends of that own goal scoring the winning goal assisted by Felipe Mora in the 77th minute. The evening took the emotive note with players and fans paying homage to Portland playmaker and captain, Diego Valeri, whose father passed away two days ago. Valeri subbed in in the second half and had a goal opportunity.
