Let’s face it.  The kid has a nose for the goal.

Last year, Anthony Fontana’s shots had the earmark of hard and high from the edge of the box.  His first in yesterday’s preseason friendly against DC United, occurred early – at the 3 minute mark.  He brought the ball into the box, collected the ball from a defender rebound, and when DC United ‘s keeper seemed prepared for a move to the right, Fontana shot hard, down and to the left.

Fontana struck again at the thirty-seventh minute, when Quinn Sullivan brought the ball down toward DC United’s goal.  Sullivan passed to Jack McGlynn, and McGlynn lofted the ball to the right.  A charging Fontana perfectly timed the shot off that pass to add another to the score.

The pre-season friendly also gave Coach Jim Curtin the opportunity to play the talent.  The new faces that started included Nathan Harriel, Jack McGlynn, Paxten Aaronsen, and Quinn Sullivan.   The new subs included Stuart Findlay, Cole Turner, Leon Flach, Shaynder Boregelin and Brandan Craig.
