CHICAGO, IL–Chicago Fire FC had traded their first round selection in the MLS SuperDraft to Colorado (who later flipped it to Houston) for allocation back in December. So the Fire’s first selection was the 33rd overall and they selected defender Jackson Ragen from Michigan.

Ragen, 22, played three years at the University of Michigan where he made 58 appearances (52 starts). An All-Big Ten selection in 2019, the 6-foot-6 defender finished the year starting in all 21 matches and tallying two goals and four assists. In 2017, Ragen made three appearances for Seattle Sounders FC 2.

The Fire’s next pick, 47th overall, was forward Christian Pinzon from Cal State-Fullerton. Pinzon played three seasons at the collegiate level totalling 54 appearances (32 starts) with 14 goals and seven assists while being named to the Big West First Team All-Conference in 2019. Pinzon, 22, started in all 20 games for the Titans in 2019, helping lead the team to their best start in program history (8-0) and finishing with a team-high 21 points.

Finally, with the 60th overall pick, the Fire selected midfielder Mitch Guitar from Wisconsin. Gutiar tallied two goals and five assists over 58 games (43 starts) for the Badgers across three seasons (2016-18). Guitar, 23, was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team in 2018. In 2020, Guitar signed his first professional contract when he joined Indy Eleven of the USL Championship.
