Report: Timbers are in negotiations with Chivas for defender Van Rankin

Reports state that Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara is in negotiations to loan defensive back Josecarlos Van Rankin to MLS side Portland Timbers according to ESPN’s Spanish Bureau writer Jesus Bernal and MLS.com contributor Jonathan Sigal.

The signing of Josecarlos Van Rankin with the Portland Timbers will be made official in the next few hours and for Chivas, this move for sure will accommodate another one of their players who are currently not part of their plans.

So far, with Claudio Bravo and Van Rankin, the Portland Timbers are very active in addressing one of their priorities in building up a depleted defensive backfield.

Despite the departures of Marco Farfan to LAFC and Jorge Villafaña to the LA Galaxy, the Timbers have found their defensive players and now look ahead in what looks to be a very contested 2021 season.
