Portland Timbers Briefly

A couple of disappointing results have prevented the Portland Timbers from taking over sole possession of the first place in the Western Conference.

For now, manager Giovanni Savarese is getting his team ready to take on a team on a decline, and luckily their big guns can score more than one goal and ensure a much-needed win.

With a win, the Portland Timbers will clinch a spot in the playoffs as well be tied with the Seattle Sounders in first place again and with the same amount of points.

Time to move on for Gio and company as the Rose City cannot be grieving in what is in the past and now look for ways to get back on the positive side to give its players a shot of confidence.

Unfortunately for the Timbers, they will not have the services of Jeremy Ebobisse as he is doubtful for Wednesday’s game, so Andres Flores will be in his place.

The need for the Timbers to give more opportunities to Felipe Mora, a sure starter against the Galaxy who can perhaps add to his current goal tally and with a more tightfisted defensive game, we may have a win.

Despite the negative streak, the Galaxy comes with to the colossus of Goose Hollow. Still, the need to put on a great game as it was like playing like a final is imperative of the Portland side.

No room for error and the need to finish what these hardened Timbers started is a must if they are to assure a playoff spot tomorrow with a win.

 Projected Lineup:

GK Steve Clark, Marco Farfan, Larry’s Mabiala, Dario Zuparic, Jorge Villafaña; Diego Chara, Eryk Williamson; Andres Flores, Diego Valeri, Yimmi Chara; Felipe Mora

LA Galaxy Briefly

The so-called American Galacticos, a team filled with so much talent, have displayed poor form after they have managed to win just a single game in eight tries.

Coming from a 2-0 defeat in the always contested El Trafico Derby against LAFC, the need to accumulate some wins and at least make a decent finish out from the cellar will do fine for their manager.

A team with such a load of talent in every position and still, they are at the bottom of the Western Conference cellar, something is not connecting back in Carson, California and it shows in their game.

A challenging quest is up for the Galaxy manager Guillermo Barros Schelotto, as the need to improve this season will be one tough challenge, he must get his players more focused as well awaken their hunger to win.

Projected Lineup:

GK Jonathan Klinsmann, Rolf Fletcher, Daniel Steres, Giancarlo Gonzalez, Emiliano Insua; Jonathan Dos Santos, Sacha Klejstan; Efrain Alvarez, Sebastien Llegett, Cristian Pavon; Yony Gonzalez

Meetings

October 7, 2020, LA Galaxy 3-6 Portland Timbers

September 2, 2020, Portland Timbers 2-3 LA Galaxy

Forecast

The Portland Timbers come with all the advantage over a slumping Galaxy not catching any breaks
