The Portland Timbers within minutes of a win over LAFC, sharing the spoils with a late Christian Torres goal

The Timbers cannot shake off the LAFC dominance and with a visiting team missing most of its notable players with injuries and national team duties, LAFC via 17-year-old Christian Torres scored the equalizer in the 93rd minute.

Somehow, this game became a disappointing result for Giovanni Savarese, after seeing his starting eleven creating several opportunities and only scoring just a lone goal and settling with just one point.

Going stated his backfield displayed a great defensive game in this match and not allowing any opportunities to the Black and Gold. During the game, the Timbers defensive backfield came huge along with Steve Clark making spectacular saves in what would have been goals.

Still, the defensive might the Rose City side was hampered with Diego Chara and Eryk Williamson receiving yellow cards, and they had to play carefully for the remainder of the game.

In the end, the grit of LAFC’s young guns came on strong and took advantage of the comfort zone the Portland Timbers had in the final minutes.

The Timbers made a whooping 16 shots, six direct at goal, and settling for just one goal. The attack needs to start generating more goals to protect what could be possible wins and especially at home.

With an LAFC team coming to town and missing several of its notable players and putting in the field players younger than 20-year-old almond their ranks, they shown how their unproven talent today got the full attention of their manager by rescuing at least one point in the end.

From the 20th minute of the first half until the 65th minute, the Timbers had this game in the pocket and dominating by limiting the LA side. By limiting them with a clear dominance in the midfield, the substitutions paid off for Bob Bradley.

When I say the 65th minute it is the time when manager Bob Bradley had enough and made some moves in his midfield and one striker with a brilliant performance from Kwadwo Opoku, he started pressuring the Timbers defensive backfield until his assist that served for the game equalizer.

For Giovanni Savarese, seeing his side giving up two points with just three minutes left in the game translated into a huge disappointment, as he expressed his thoughts in the post-game press conference.

By seeing his side dominating in both halves both in offense and defense, in the end they saw how the LAFC youngsters’ resolution pay off by taking the win away and for the Timbers settling with a share of spoils.
