Its a rivalry and the best one in all of Major League Soccer, whenever the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders play, these stage one of its most celebrated ones in the Cascadia Derby.

With this win all of a sudden the Portland Timbers are becoming a more seasoned team on the road and becoming a spoiler for teams that are carrying undefeated streaks at home.

Today’s win in Seattle the Timbers brought down another winning streak, since last year the Rave Greens were not defeated at home, this came to an abrupt stop, courtesy of their Cascadia foes.

Before that, the Rose City squad brought down two streaks against NYCFC and the LAFC.

Brian Fernandez embracing the rivalry in its full, the man, somehow is becoming a nightmare for the Seattle side, first in U.S. Open Cup and today in the Derby with two goals that became pure poison for the locals.

For the Argentinian scoring his seventh and eight goal of the season, so far the Andean has scored in both league and Cup play a total of eleven goals, which four have been against the Sounders.

With his seventh goal of the season, Brian scored in the 20 minute with a play that exposed the Sounders defense when he took the rebound from Moriera, pushing the ball for the first goal.

The Rose City side going into halftime with the lead, the second half was to be one exciting one, as both squads, were to bring thier best game and going for the win at any cost.

With the Rave Greens scoring the equalizer with an individual play from Raul Ruidiaz beating Julio Cascante and Larry’s Mabiala an pulling Steve Clark out of his area, he score in the 50′ minute.

not even seventy five seconds passed by when, Brian Fernandez with a combination with Sebastian Blanco, he score in the 51′ minute to a shoot that not even Seattle keeper Stefan Frei could not hold on the ball.

In the end teamwork shined in the Portland Timbers, with a slow start in the first ten minutes and in spite of an early scare from Raul Rudiaz, these overcome the Sounders pressure.

By setting the tone in the course of the game along a strong team mentality and taking advantage of a the locals, game lacking ideas or scheme, this win comes in the right moment.
