Vancouver Whitecaps 1-LAFC 0

When Inbeom Hwang was brought in to Vancouver over the winter the thought was that he could be a difference-maker. Oh, how right Whitecaps management was on that one. On Wednesday night the South Korean international pulled off his best performance to date scoring the go-ahead goal in the Whitecaps 1-0 win over Western Conference leaders LAFC.

Hwang’s goal came in the 27th minute of the match after PC’s strike from distance clanged off of the bar. It was his first goal of the season and his first since signing with the club in January. Goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau made three saves en route to earning the clean sheet.

For the Whitecaps (1-4-2, 5 points) the win not gives them three points and a real boost ahead of a long road trip to Orlando on Saturday. As for LAFC (6-1-1, 19 points) the loss knocks them from the ranks of the unbeaten with only the Seattle Sounders remaining with a perfect record. The two sides will meet on Saturday night.

On hand to cover the match was Prost photographer Gerrit te Hennepe. You can check out more of his work on our SmugMug page.
