FC Dallas 2, Portland Timbers 1

So close but no win for the Portland Timbers recording their fifth consecutive loss of this 2019. With a 2-1 loss today in Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, today we saw a different Timbers squad.

Disheartening and unjust is what these Timbers endured after showing off a lot of fight and heart.

With a couple of polemic calls in the end, these became the difference maker for the Rose City squad to at least rescue a point and see an end to their losing streak.

For manager Giovanni Savarese putting in plays his effective 5-3-2 formation, once again almost netted them a positive result but fell short on its objective in what seemed a tough match.

As Gio made some moves in his initial eleven with Cristhian Paredes and Andres Flores.

Still the Portland Timbers were a bit unlucky in the early minutes of the match when Michael Barrios ball aimed as a pass ricochet on Timbers Diego Chara and the play turned sour for the visitors.

As an opportune and well-placed striker in Dallas Jesus Ferreira took the ball and scored the game, first goal in the 9 minute that in spite of the Portland Timbers protests of an offside the referee gave the goal for the home side.

In spite of the Rose City squad displaying a good defense and not allowing any liberties to the FCD strikers, the opportunity came in the 60 minute when the Hoops Reto Ziegler scored the game winner via a PK.

With the score in favor of the locals came a play started again by Diego Chara passing to Sebastian Blanco and this passing in the area finding Cristhian Paredes to get the Timbers in the game.

In spite of the moves by Gio late in the game with Diego Valeri and Dairon Aspirilla and Tomas Conechny, the Portland game got a boost but in the end  came short thanks to two polemic plays.

After a VAR review that denied the Portland Timbers of a clear penalty that would allow them the draw, another play agasin denied them of another PK after a foul inside the area over Bill Tuiloma.

Highlight of the Match

The 5-3-2 formation sent by manager Giovanni Savarese somehow is turning the Portland Timbers game for the better in these tough times.

The addition of Cristhian Paredes and Andres Flores became beneficial with Paredes scoring the Timbers only goal of the match.

Jeff Attinella delivering in the clutch and when needed with, a number of providential saves.

For the Portland Timbers playing an amazing game and seeing an improvement with a little modification in their next game we may see that elusive first win come through.
