US Soccer awards NISA coveted D3 status

The US Soccer Federation has granted D3 status to the newly formed National Independent Soccer Association (NISA).

A delighted NISA president Bob Watkins received the news on Saturday.

He told Prost Soccer:

“On behalf of our teams ownership group and our founders Peter Wilt and Jack Cummins, we are thrilled USSF has chosen to sanction NISA.

“It’s an opportunity for an open system to assist in the growth of soccer in the United States. We look forward to our opening games later this year.”

Eight clubs are definite members with another six said to be waiting to join now that the D3 status is awarded. The league has signaled its intent to play on the UEFA calendar with games beginning in August and the season ending around May.

Among the clubs confirmed fo league membership is 1904FC, based in the North County of San Diego, who afe owned by a core of investors including international players Demba Ba, Eden Hazard, Moussa Sow and Yohan Cabaye,
