Portland Timbers at a glance

It will be another tough test on the road for the Portland Timbers against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. After getting important wins on the road and at home putting once again their undefeated streak in peril. Their next challenge looks tough but not difficult in a place where they in the past had their share of difficulties in getting a positive result.  Not today as the levels of optimism and confidence the Rose City Boys are coming to this match are in an all-time high.

Still do not underestimate your foes as despite their struggles the odds of netting an upset over this Pacific Northeast squad are within their reach. As has been said many times there is no such thing than an easy foe. The Portland starting eleven are currently playing a top of the line game of football that can easily overcome their foes and score another important win on the road.

Portland Timbers manager Giovanni Savarese have many weapons in his arsenal, for sure he and his Boys can deliver another amazing afternoon of pure and genuine football, displaying an all-around fight. No surprise if Gio selects his usual 4-3-2-1 formation to counter the Rapids rising and using his winning lineup.

GK Jeff Attinella, Alvas Powell, Larrys Mabiala, Bill Tuiloma (Julio Cascante), Zarek Valentin defensive midfielders Cristhian Paredes, Diego Chara, Andy Polo, offensive midfielders Sebastian Blanco, Diego Valeri, forward Fanendo Adi (Samuel Armenteros)

Colorado Rapids at a glance

For Colorado, side manager Anthony Hudson suddenly his squad experiencing some struggles in displaying positive results. Despite this squad being, reinforce in the preseason to become a total contender. Suddenly the Rapids are in the bottom of the Western Conference with just a couple of wins.  The Rapids have amassed total of five consecutive losses and with no end in sight for this odd streak.   For their manager aiming for the spoils and trying to get an upset at home over the visiting Rose City squads. Anything is possible coming to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, where Mother Nature can play a big role in favor of the locals.

As the Rapids, hungry for points and looking forward to a new competitive and top rated squad. For sure, this will make up as one of its major challenges for their veteran manager.

However, nothing written in this game as the Portland Timbers in their past meeting these have a not so positive record in these parts of the Rockies. So far in Colorado Portland has just won one match and with three ties, versus the local Coloradoans netting six wins.

Still Hudson is looking for the right formula and winning strategy with the aim of reviving his squad. In this match, he has projected a very defensive formation to counter the Timbers attack in Sebastian Blanco, Diego Valeri and Fanendo Adi and occasionally their backfield looking for an opening. His 3-5-2 formation looking to make a fortress of his backfield and counter the Portland is something to see its effectiveness this cause to the visiting eleven.

GK Tim Howard, Deklan Wynne, Danny Wilson, Tommy Smith, midfield Bismark Boateng, Enzo Martinez, Jack Price, Sam Nicholson, Edgar Castillo, frontal attack Joe Mason and Dominique Badji.
