Heather O’Reilly looks forward to beginning of a rivalry with … England!

Arsenal Women’s Heather O’Reilly was in a buoyant mood after her side beat 3rd place Reading Ladies 3-1 in an FAWSL game.

Although she only came on as a late substitute, there was plenty evidence that the USWNT legend is enjoying her game as much as ever. She watched on as her side beat a very useful Reading side 3-1 at the Meadow Park Stadium in Borehamwood.

After the game, she talked to us about the balance of power between the NWSL in her native United States and the FAWSL in England, the prospect of playing at Wembley Stadium and whether the elimination of the men’s team from the World Cup would have any effect on the USWNT.

Most interestingly, she hinted that the rise of the England team to a World Number 2 ranking might begin to set off a real rivalry between the USWNT and their English counterparts.
