Pohang Steelers made it two K-League wins from two by winning 3-2 at Jeonnam Dragons. Pohang sit top of the table having scored six goals in the opening two rounds. This was a hard-fought win in contrast with last week’s 3-0 defeat of Daegu. The club has endured a mediocre spell of late and the nature of these two early victories will feed belief that they could once more make an impact in the top half of the table.

Pohang top the table on goals scored, one of three sides on six points from two games. Gyeongnam sit second, the newly-promoted side defeating ten-man Jeju United 2-0. Former Flamengo forward Negueba opened the scoring in the first half before a late goal by Takahiro Kunimoto sealed the points. This rounded off a miserable week for Jeju, who were beaten 5-3 by Guangzhou Evergrande in AFC Champions League action midweek, leaving them bottom of Group G ahead of this week’s return match with the Chinese side.

Rounding off the top three are Gangwon, who came from behind to win 2-1 at FC Seoul.  The home side took the lead before Lee Woong-hee’s own and Jung Jo-gook’s winner left FC Seoul with only one point from a possible six.

There were four first half goals as Jeonbuk came from behind twice before going down 3-2 at Incheon. This defeat came on the back of Jeonbuk’s spectacular 6-3 success over Tianjin in the AFC Champions League. The K-League champions travel to China midweek for the return match sitting top of group E with maximum points, but with questions over their defence after conceding six goals in two matches.

Also in Champions League action this week are Suwon, who prepared for their midweek trip to face Shanghai Shenhua with a 2-0 win at Daegu, a result that leaves the home side pointless and bottom of the table. Suwon sit second in Group H as they head to China.

The only other side yet to pick up a point are Ulsan, who were beaten 2-0 at home by Sangju Sangmu. Ulsan are second in Champions League Group F and they welcome group leaders Shanghai SIPG on Tuesday night.
