D.C. United 2-Philadelphia Union 1

Florida sunshine? A late game-winning goal? Sounds like a pretty good Saturday for D.C. United. Despite allowing a goal in the second half  United showed a little bit of resilience and a peek of what might come on the attack this season with a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union in the Suncoast Invitational.

United would take the lead in the first half with Darren Mattocks finishing off a sublime cross from Zoltan Stieber in the 14th minute. Philadelphia would respond late with Corey Burke getting the equalizer in the 88th minute. But D.C. would not be denied the three points on the day. Luciano Acosta would past the Union defense and slot a low shot just beyond the reach of Union goalkeeper Jake McGuire.
