Post Match: Minnesota United Rescue A Point On The Road Against Miami FC

Minnesota United closed out the month of August on an even note in Miami Saturday night. The side secured a point in draw against Miami FC, the same team that scrubbed the Loon 4-0 earlier in the month.

Right at kickoff the Loons begin to attack launching the ball down field in attempt the create opportunities. In their last meeting Christian Ramirez was quiet, but this time around the striker was more active on the attack.

The first half saw both side come out attacking, and produced opportunities early on. Ramirez gave Miami’s backline trouble. In the the 5th minute, the striker had a great look at goal before getting tangled up Defender Mason Trafford.

United avoided disaster early on in the 32nd minute when left the net wide open after coming out to foil a long ball from Ariel Martinez. Justin Davies was able to deflect a potential goal from Dario Cvitanich. In the 36th minute, Ramirez look to have on open look on goal following a free kick but questionable defending by Blake Smith fizzled out the attack.

After a scoreless first half, Miami took the lead in the 50th minute following a cross from Conner Rezoned that was tapped hoe by Kwadwo Poku. The Loons managed to even the score shortly after. Jack Blake delivered a beautiful pass to the foot of Lance Laing, and he lobbed it over the head of Mario Vega for the goal.

From their the Loons controlled the second half and fired at every opportunity. Lance Laing almost scored his second goal of the match in the 62nd minute. Justin Davis chipped the ball to a streaking Laing on the left sideline, who rockets a shot that was stopped by Vega.

Minnesota United’s next match comes against Fort Lauderdale this Wednesday. The Strikers currently sit in 8th place in the table and will presented the Loons with an excellent opportunity to earn 3 points heading into the last month of the season.
